Brown University Working Group on China: Jianhong Liu

Jianhong Liu's interest in China is primarily in the area of crime and criminal justice. He received his PhD in Sociology from SUNY Albany. His first work on crime in China (co-authored with Allen Liska and Steven F. Messner) was published in 1997, and examined the chronic offenders in China . He is currently on the editorial board of several international journals. He has guest edited Special Issues of the International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology and the Australian and New Zealand of Journal of Criminology focusing on crime and criminal justice topics in China . He holds appointments as Guest Professor, Fellow, and Associate Fellow at several major Chinese Universities. He has been interviewed by Newsweek and Voice of America on topics of crime and criminal justice in China . He is currently working with Steven F. Messner and Lening Zhang on their NSF funded project “Criminal Victimization in Contemporary Urban China: A multi-level Analysis of Survey Data for the City of Tianjin ”.
