Introduction:
Andrew Foster is an empirical micro-economist with interests in health, population, and development. He has done substantial work in the area of household behavior in developing countries and has worked extensively in South Asia. Foster has also done a significant amount of work on human capital, both in terms of health and schooling. He has examined the effects of price and credit market availability on child, the effects of economic growth on schooling and on sex differentials in mortality, the effects of marriage-market sorting on child education, and the effects of health on productivity in agriculture. More recently he has been exploring distributional aspects of the provision of local public goods in India including schooling and roads and irrigation assets. |
